Marlene's Faces is a contemporary music composition composed for Bilgi New Music Festival 11 premiered by AWKAS Ensemble on March 6, 2020.
This piece was inspired by the South African artist Marlene Dumas whose work was based on the twenty–four portrait Polaroid snapshots people she knows and on newspaper clippings of strangers. In the piece, there are different sections and each section is a musical expression of selected portraits and the psychic projections of their internal states.
